OESCA CENTENNIAL RESCUE PARADE photos by Ruth Reeve |

The Rescue Parade was held at the lunch break during the last day of festivities. As I was a part of it, I can
honestly say it was a thrill. People were heading out to get something to eat and then our event was announced. Emma2,
Devon and I were the first to parade around the ring. There was much laughter. And the laughter grew as more and more
people joined the spectators around the ring. I can’t remember the order of the dogs in the parade… suffice it to say
all the entries were enjoyed by the spectators. There was the lobstah lady, the Gloucester Fisher Lady, the Bean Pot
sheepie, the Lighthouse sheepie, the Tool sheepie, the patriotic sheepie and lots more. Entries were requested to dress
in the costume to represent their state of residence. How did we do? Can you guess where we live?
Being inside the ring was a real hoot. The enthusiasm of the crowd was just fantastic. We had an official announcer and
three judges AND prizes. And very best of all…. The paparazzi were allowed in the ring (the only time I believe in the
entire week) to photograph our gang. All rescue dogs are pawtastic. As their uprights we are just delighted we are their
furever homes….
Thank yous go to Karen Burdash for her work on this event. Without her and her enthusiasm for our rescue sheepies this
would not have happened. We look forward to seeing more of you at our next Specialty!
