To visit the English dog-show "CRUFTS"
is and has always been a special experience for dog
lovers. Since it is now possible to show your own
dog from the continent showing is not only
interesting but also exciting. To be able to compare
with English dogs is really special, because this
breed comes from England and therefore this country
is responsible for the standard. Our breed is a very
old English breed. For us three Austrians it was
extremely interesting as we made up our mind to
apply for Crufts with 3 dogs living in Austria and of which two have
also been bred in Austria. These three dogs have already been very successful at the biggest OES-show on the continent
which last year took place in Italy.
These were:
Ch. Enchant Wisecracker Bell (Bella) - BOB
Ch. Aryakas Cosmo Junior (CJ) - BOS
Enchant X-piece of Luck (IXI) - 2nd junior bitch.
Unfortunately "Bella" hurt her front paw two days before departing for Crufts, so I decided not to show her.

We had an easy trip through Germany, Holland, Belgium and France and then with the train from Calais to Folkstone and
then on to Birmingham. The first day in Birmingham was to rest and to have a quick trip shopping at the NEC-halls.
On Friday then came the day of the show, from my part with mixed feelings. As usual there was a high entry and big
classes with a lot of excellent dogs. To begin with came the male dogs. The classes then became larger and more
interesting and there were a lot of lovely dogs to look at The last class was the Open Dog Class with 11 dogs starling.
The typical and very beautiful dog "Ch. Aryakas Cosmo Junior" (CJ.), a son of "Ch. Aryakas Cosmopolitan", Crufts Winner
2006 with BOB, bred in Greece by N. Kanales, in co-ownership with Elisabeth Antl and Nikolas Kanales, could win this
class and gained then also the CC Then came the bitches. As usual very nice and well presented dogs. The bitch I showed
is a half-sister to "Bella" called "Enchant X-Piece of Luck" (IXI), (a daughter of Ch. "Enchant Stargazer Blue x Enchant
Queen of Hearts) only two years old and she made out of a class with 12 participants in the Post Graduate Class the 2nd
place and in the Limit Class with 11 the 3rd place. That was really a great success, which I had of course dreamed about
but never really hoped to achieve: Our first entry at Crufts and such a good result! The CAC for the bitches went to
"Ch.Griland Beauty Bear. Breeder and owner is K. Grigorian, Russia. A very beautiful bitch, who looks due to the shorter
hair somewhat still very youthful, but has very good proportions and an excellent movement.
Then came the BOB and "Ch. Aryakas Cosmo Junior gained this title for himself. This was a cause to rejoice and there
were afterwards lots of congratulations.
This was truly an impressing result for those dogs living and partly also having being bred in Austria. It should be
especially emphasized that CJ. and IXI (also Bella) are dogs with tails. We were not always enthusiastic about the
docking-ban but had to accept it Therefore we are happy that now also in the home-country of our breed the tail is
no longer a criteria due to open-minded judges. Thanks for the fair judgement and the good placements. We think that
for the future also wagging OES will remain our best friends, also in the U.K. where as we have heard, the docking-ban
will be put into force beginning of April.

Tiredly, but lucky, again at home landed. |
