I was very happy to be invited to judge the Eurasia Show. It was really different from all the other shows I have judged on previous occasions in Russia. The show ground was superb, with a beautiful Ring of Honour. In all the breeds I judged the quality was much higher than on previous occasions and in Bobtails this was true too. I was impressed with the evolution I saw in the breed. In general, the quality of males was better than females, whereas in most countries it is the other way around.
The dog from the open class had the best construction but with a difficult coat that needs expert care to get him in top condition. Nevertheless, he is an important dog and one that I recommend to use for breeding.
The CACIB dog was a top quality dog with good balance, excellent construction and a coat of quality but he was badly prepared. With a lot of work he could look a really a super dog! I was very disappointed not to see him in the big ring for the group.
My reserve dog was also very nice, with good balance and was the best presented and in good coat condition. He is still immature and needs more body condition.
My junior dog was excellent in type and coat but, in my opinion, needs a bit more bone and size for a male.
My best puppy was a very nice and promising puppy with good structure and a nice coat.
The bitches were all very different. The winning one was not in top coat condition but the quality of coat was excellent. She was well made and of good proportions and very feminine.
The reserve bitch was in better coat condition but a little heavy and masculine.
I think in general the quality was very high and the improvement needs to be in coat care and presentation. This is very important and particularly in Bobtails more than other breeds. Congratulations on the improvement in the breed and I’m sure in the near future you will have dogs competing at the very highest level.
